Zerin Attends the 2018 NAHRO Washington Conference

On April 23, Zerin, the 2018 grand prize winner of the “What Home Means to Me” calendar contest, attended the Washington Conference, met HUD Secretary Ben Carson and Sen. Maria Cantwell, and toured both Capitol Hill and some Washington, D.C. monuments.
Zerin is a 19-year-old artist and a public housing resident of the King County (Wash.) Housing Authority. Her poster, which was chosen over nearly 2,000 others, depicts what home means to her as an immigrant, and features both her new home and her old one in Bangladesh. Zerin is a high school senior who is also enrolled in community college to attain an associate degree in biology. She dreams of becoming a pediatrician.
