PNRC-NAHRO and NAHRO Awards

PNRC-NAHRO and NAHRO have a number of awards and designations which recognize outstanding service and performance in the field of affordable housing and community development

NAHRO Individual Awards & Recognition

Mary K. Nenno Advocacy Award - Recognizes outstanding & innovative achievement in the area of legislative advocacy.
M. Justin Herman Memorial Award - Honors an exceptionally qualified individual who has made outstanding contributions to the quality of life through service in the field of housing and/or community development.
John D. Lange International Award - Honors an individual who has made significant contributions to international understanding in housing and community development.
Elizabeth B. Wells Memorial Award - Honors an individual Commissioner who has demonstrated excellence in advocacy and in developing financial, political, and community support for housing & community development programs.
NAHRO Fellows - The NAHRO Fellowship program honors members who have demonstrated their long standing commitment to improving housing conditions and/or the viability of their communities

NAHRO Individual/Organizational Awards

Community Service Award for Manufacturers & Suppliers - Recognizes outstanding businesses or individuals engaged involuntary community service for the benefit of a resident, a local housing authority, a community development agency, or other entity involved in providing low-income housing or serving that population.

NAHRO Organizational Awards

Awards of Merit & Awards of Excellence – NAHRO has five categories (with several sub-categories each) under which organizations may submit nominations for their projects. These include:
    PROGRAM INNOVATION: RESIDENT AND CLIENT SERVICES
    PROGRAM INNOVATION: COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION
    ADMINISTRATIVE INNOVATION
    PROGRAM INNOVATION: AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT DESIGN
(Nominees for Awards of Merit and Excellence from PNRC-NAHRO are also considered for PNRC’s PRAIS Awards annually. See below description.)

PNRC-NAHRO Individual Awards

President’s Award PNRC’s President selects an individual whose past dedication and commitment demonstrates outstanding performance to the field of affordable housing and/or community development and PNRC’s mission. The award is at the sole discretion of the PNRC President although nominations are welcomed. The President’s Award is presented at PNRC’s Annual Conference each year.

PNRC-NAHRO Individual / Organizational Awards

Advocate of the Year In 2009, PNRC introduced the Advocate of the Year Award to recognize an individual and an organization whose efforts to advocate on the behalf of affordable housing and community development and the beneficiaries of those programs demonstrate outstanding effort and dedication. The Advocate of the Year Program criteria and policies are posted on the website and include a written nomination form that must be completed for each nominee. Nominators may be any individual or PNRC member agency. The Advocate of the Year Awards are presented at PNRC’s Annual Conference each year.

Pacific NW Regional Awards for Innovative Service (PRAIS)

PNRC-NAHRO reviews nominations for NAHRO’s Awards of Merit & Excellence each year and in the process of doing so selects those projects nominated by agencies which demonstrate their innovative service and performance in the same categories as NAHRO’s. The projects selected receive PRAIS recognition and awards at the Annual Conference in the Spring of each year. The same projects may also be forwarded to NAHRO for Awards of Merit (July Conference) and Awards of Excellence (October Conference).
