August advocacy has been extended! Congress is back in session today and this week the House will begin consideration of an omnibus spending package that includes the FY 2018 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (T-HUD) bill. Contact your legislators today and let them know how important it is that they provide sufficient funding for T-HUD!
September will be a politically difficult and busy month. Prior to adjourning for the August recess, neither the House nor the Senate completed its FY 2018 budget and appropriations process, leaving only 12 legislative days to put a spending bill in place before the end of the fiscal year on September 30. This process could be made more complicated, since we expect the debt ceiling to be reached on September 29, a major emergency disaster relief package for Hurricane Harvey is needed, and the President has recently threatened a shutdown over border wall funding.

Please reach out to your members of Congress today! Urge them to reach a budget deal that does not force cuts to domestic programs and to finalize FY 2018 spending as quickly as possible.
